The five things that actually have to be written down
Zones, because without them a scope is a list of tasks with no location. Frequency, because it determines the price and the expectation. Access, because it is the most common cause of a failed attendance. Consumables, because it is the most common cause of an argument. And contacts, because everything else depends on someone being reachable. Five items, half a page, and the arrangement holds.
What can be left out for a small site is considerable. Elaborate zone registers, formal escalation tiers, detailed reporting cycles and inspection schedules all belong in larger buildings and add nothing here. A sole trader who is on the premises every day provides more oversight than any reporting format could, which is why the documentation can be short without being weak. The test for including anything else is whether it would still be useful if the owner were away for a fortnight.
